How To Recover And Move On

Oftentimes, we personalize the actions of an abusive person, believing it reflects our own value.

We feel incomplete unless they acknowledge us or treat us with respect.

This keeps us trapped, beating ourselves up and struggling to pick up the pieces when the relationship ends.

But what if we viewed the abuser as a natural disaster?

Just like a mudslide destroying a house or a thunderstorm knocking down a tree, their actions are not a reflection of our worth.

We wouldn't blame ourselves for being in the path of destruction.

We wouldn't question what we did to deserve it.

So why do we do it when it comes to abusive individuals?

Their pain, their actions have nothing to do with who we are.

We were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, caught in the blast radius of their turmoil.

It's time to see that their actions don't define us and embrace a life where we navigate cleanly and frictionlessly, guided by self-compassion and empowerment.
