Is Giving an Ultimatum the Right Move to Rebuild a Relationship with an Ex? Coach Alex and Coach Adrian discuss whether it is a good idea to give an ex an ultimatum. While it may not be an easy situation, it can be beneficial in some cases. Giving an ex an ultimatum to commit is not the best decision, as it simply provides them with a plan they can choose to ignore. Instead, use the distance to regain your ex's attention. This means changing your behavior and distancing yourself from your ex, rather than trying to force them into a commitment.

Coach Adrian says it can be effective in some cases, but only if the person is truly ready to move on and let their ex go. They say that in other cases, it can backfire and just result in the person becoming friends with benefits. Alex Cormont recommends against using ultimatums, as they often backfire and worsen the situation. Coach Adrian agrees, and adds that ultimatums should only be used as a last resort, after all other options have been exhausted.
